Turkish Sizes 34–60 vs EU/UK/US: Plus-Size Chart 2026
Turkish size 50 is not a guess — it is a defined set of body measurements. Here is the full 34–60 conversion to EU, UK and US, plus the ease, tolerance and size-curve logic that keeps your returns low.

Most sizing mistakes in wholesale plus-size buying happen in the same place: a buyer converts a customer's US or UK size into a Turkish number, orders 60 pieces, and discovers the hip was the problem all along. Turkish sizing is actually one of the easiest systems to work with once you know two things — what the numbers mean, and how much ease the factory cuts into the garment. At Disentis Modest we have been producing in our own Istanbul workshop since 1998, across 700+ models in sizes 34–60, and this is the chart and the logic we give our own buyers.
Turkish Sizes Are EU Numbers — With a Plus-Size Extension
Turkish manufacturers label garments by beden (size): 34, 36, 38 and so on in steps of two. This is the same numeric scale used across continental Europe, so a Turkish 42 and an EU 42 are the same size on paper. The difference is the top end: while many European brands stop at 46 or 48, Turkish plus-size producers grade all the way to 60, and they grade it properly — with reshaped armholes, deeper darts and wider sleeves, not just a scaled-up small pattern.
- Steps of 2. Sizes move 34 → 36 → 38 … → 60. There are no odd numbers.
- Roughly 6 cm per step. Bust, waist and hip each grow about 6 cm from one size to the next in the plus range.
- Plus starts at 46. Below 46 you are in standard sizing; 46–60 is the true plus block, where patterns are drafted separately.
- Grouped packs are normal. Turkish wholesalers often sell a style in a set — for example 46-48-50-52 — rather than as single pieces.
Turkish 34–60 vs EU, UK and US: The Conversion Table
Standard sizes (34–44)
- TR 34 = EU 34 = UK 6 = US 2
- TR 36 = EU 36 = UK 8 = US 4
- TR 38 = EU 38 = UK 10 = US 6
- TR 40 = EU 40 = UK 12 = US 8
- TR 42 = EU 42 = UK 14 = US 10
- TR 44 = EU 44 = UK 16 = US 12
Plus sizes (46–60)
- TR 46 = EU 46 = UK 18 = US 14 / 14W
- TR 48 = EU 48 = UK 20 = US 16W
- TR 50 = EU 50 = UK 22 = US 18W
- TR 52 = EU 52 = UK 24 = US 20W
- TR 54 = EU 54 = UK 26 = US 22W
- TR 56 = EU 56 = UK 28 = US 24W
- TR 58 = EU 58 = UK 30 = US 26W
- TR 60 = EU 60 = UK 32 = US 28W
The US column is the one to treat with care. American plus sizing runs on two parallel scales — misses (14, 16, 18) and women's (14W, 16W, 18W) — and the W sizes are cut for a fuller waist and hip at the same bust. When a customer in Houston or Lagos says "US 18", she may mean either. That is why the conversion above is a starting point, not a decision.
Practical tip: never convert from a size name when you can convert from a number. Ask the customer for one measurement — the hip in centimetres — and you will pick the right Turkish size correctly about nine times out of ten.
The Body Measurements Behind Each Turkish Plus Size
These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Measure over light underwear, keep the tape level and snug without compressing, and take the hip at the fullest point — usually 20–22 cm below the natural waist.
- TR 46 — bust 106–110 cm (41.7–43.3 in) · waist 88–92 cm · hip 114–118 cm (44.9–46.5 in)
- TR 48 — bust 112–116 cm (44.1–45.7 in) · waist 94–98 cm · hip 120–124 cm (47.2–48.8 in)
- TR 50 — bust 118–122 cm (46.5–48.0 in) · waist 100–104 cm · hip 126–130 cm (49.6–51.2 in)
- TR 52 — bust 124–128 cm (48.8–50.4 in) · waist 106–110 cm · hip 132–136 cm (52.0–53.5 in)
- TR 54 — bust 130–134 cm (51.2–52.8 in) · waist 112–116 cm · hip 138–142 cm (54.3–55.9 in)
- TR 56 — bust 136–140 cm (53.5–55.1 in) · waist 118–122 cm · hip 144–148 cm (56.7–58.3 in)
- TR 58 — bust 142–146 cm (55.9–57.5 in) · waist 124–128 cm · hip 150–154 cm (59.1–60.6 in)
- TR 60 — bust 148–152 cm (58.3–59.8 in) · waist 130–134 cm · hip 156–160 cm (61.4–63.0 in)
When bust and hip fall in different sizes — very common above TR 50 — the rule depends on the garment. For dresses, coats and jackets, size to the larger of bust or hip. For trousers, leggings and skirts, size to the hip. For co-ord sets sold as one SKU, size to the hip and expect the top to sit relaxed.
Ease, Tolerance and Fabric: Why the Same Size Feels Different
A finished garment is always larger than the body it fits. That difference is ease, and it is designed in — not an error. Knowing the typical ease saves you from reordering the wrong size.
- Woven, fitted (shirts, tailored jackets): 8–12 cm of ease at the bust.
- Woven, relaxed (tunics, kimonos, kaftans): 20–30 cm of ease; these forgive one full size in either direction.
- Jersey and viscose knits: 0–6 cm of ease, because the fabric stretches 15–25%. A stretchy TR 50 can comfortably fit a TR 52 body.
- Production tolerance: ±1.5–2 cm on main measurement points is the industry norm and is not a defect.
- Shrinkage: expect 3–5% on cotton and cotton-rich knits after the first wash; viscose and polyester blends move much less.
Practical tip: before your first big reorder, wash one piece per fabric group at 30 °C and re-measure it. Ten minutes of testing tells you more about fit complaints than ten emails.
Building a Size Curve That Actually Sells
Buying one piece per size is the fastest way to sit on dead stock. A size curve is the ratio of sizes inside a style, and it should follow your customers, not the chart. Patterns we see repeatedly across our markets:
- West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana): demand skews high and hip-dominant — a common curve is 48 ×1, 50 ×2, 52 ×2, 54 ×1, and larger hips relative to waist mean elastic or tie waists sell better.
- Latin America (Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru): strong hip-to-waist difference; 46–52 is the core block, and stretch fabrics outperform rigid wovens.
- Europe: 46–50 carries most of the volume, with 52+ moving mainly online rather than in-store.
- Middle East: longer lengths and covered arms dominate; sizes spread wider, so 46–56 with an even curve is safer.
- Rule of thumb: stock 4 consecutive sizes per style rather than 7. Depth in the sizes that sell beats width across sizes that do not.
From Size Chart to Order: A 20-Minute Workflow
Once your curve is set, ordering should be mechanical. This is how it works with us:
- 1. Browse the full collection and open the models you want; each product page carries its size range within 34–60.
- 2. Build your order list on the site, choosing sizes and quantities per model.
- 3. Check the total against the $400 minimum order — that is typically 12–20 pieces depending on category.
- 4. Send the list via WhatsApp to +90 555 336 47 86; you get availability confirmed and a proforma invoice back.
- 5. Pay by bank transfer against the proforma — a 70% deposit and 30% before shipping is the common structure.
- 6. We ship worldwide; give us the destination city and preferred courier so the proforma reflects real freight, not an estimate.
Since 1998 everything has been cut and sewn in our own Istanbul workshop, which is the practical reason the grading stays consistent from model to model: a TR 52 in one dress is drafted from the same block as a TR 52 in the next. That consistency is what lets you reorder by number instead of re-measuring every style.
Frequently asked questions
What is Turkish size 50 in US sizes?
Turkish 50 corresponds to US 18W (or US 18 in misses sizing) and UK 22. In body measurements that is roughly a 118–122 cm bust, 100–104 cm waist and 126–130 cm hip. If your customer's hip is above 130 cm, go up to Turkish 52.
Is Turkish sizing the same as EU sizing?
Yes, the numbers are the same scale — Turkish 46 equals EU 46. The difference is range and cut: Turkish plus-size manufacturers commonly grade to 60, while many EU brands stop at 46 or 48, and Turkish plus patterns are drafted on a dedicated plus block.
How do I convert Turkish plus sizes to UK sizes?
Subtract 28 from the Turkish number to get the UK size: TR 46 = UK 18, TR 50 = UK 22, TR 56 = UK 28. This holds across the whole 34–60 range. Always confirm with the hip measurement, since UK sizing varies noticeably between retailers.
What measurements do I need from my customer to choose the right size?
Three are enough: bust, natural waist and fullest hip, in centimetres. For fitted dresses and jackets, size to the larger of bust or hip; for trousers and skirts, size to the hip. Height matters only for trouser and maxi lengths.
Do Turkish plus-size clothes run small or large?
They generally run true to the EU number, but perceived fit depends on fabric. Jersey and viscose pieces feel roomier because the fabric stretches 15–25%, while rigid woven shirts and tailored jackets feel closer to the body. Relaxed tunics and kaftans forgive a full size either way.
What does 'one size' mean on Turkish tunics and kaftans?
On oversized plus-size styles, one size usually covers a span of roughly TR 46–52, sometimes 46–54 in very loose cuts. It is defined by the garment's flat measurement, not by a body size, so check the total bust width of the piece before ordering depth.
Which sizes should a new plus-size boutique order first?
Start with four consecutive sizes per style rather than the full range — 48, 50, 52 and 54 cover the majority of plus demand in most markets. Buy depth in 50 and 52, then adjust after your first two sell-throughs based on what actually reorders.
How do I order from a Turkish plus-size wholesaler and what is the minimum?
Build a list from the collection, then send it on WhatsApp to +90 555 336 47 86. The minimum order is $400, which is typically 12–20 pieces. You receive a proforma invoice and pay by bank transfer, commonly 70% deposit and 30% before shipment, with worldwide delivery.
